I told the neighbor they could both be true. I told the neighbor I was sorry. And I told her I would testify if asked. I was not subpoenaed — the case did not go to trial. Chelsea, according to what I was told by a family lawyer who my own lawyer put me in touch with, pled to a single misdemeanor count of child endangerment, lost her driving privileges for six months, was required to attend a parenting course, and was placed on a court-supervised treatment plan. She did not lose custody
permanently. She was granted supervised visitation at her mother's house — the grandmother's house in Plano — and the father, whose own history was apparently concerning enough to the court that full custody to him was not considered appropriate either, was granted primary custody with supervised visits for himself. The boy, as far as I know, is living primarily with his grandmother. He is four years old now. I think about him every time I go to Trader Joe's. I do not go to that particular Trader Joe's anymore. I do not know if Chelsea ever knew it was me who called, or whether she thinks about me. I hope she is okay. I also hope her son is safer now.
